Faith/Bible Journaling... A Discovery...

I have been a jounaler since I was nine years old.  I learned from watching my Grandmother journal.  Read this post to learn more about my beginning into writing.  So, journaling is nothing new to me.  But Faith/Bible journaling is.

I began writing notes from sermons in the 90s.  I would write the notes from the sermon, look back at them to reflect, and then file them away.  I never wrote anything about the notes or anything, but I would back and read them from time to time.

I have always used a planner ever since I can remember.  I am very anal and the way my undiagnosed ADHD is… I needed some way to keep myself organized.  I usually used whatever calendar or planner I could find.  I just wrote in it and that was that until I purchased a planner that had stickers in it.  That is when I began my creative planning journey.  I then began looking for planners with stickers in it.  I did not get that deep off into it, but I had been bitten by the creative planning bug.

I began Bible journaling in November 2018 when I was in Michael’s and saw a calendar by Happy Planner.  It was a Christian Planner.  You could write sermon notes, write notes of reflection, and keep track of a few other faith themed items.  I found stickers, washi tape (oh my… what was that!), pens, and much more.  It was a whole thing.  Thus, began my full-fledged journey into creative planning.

I searched through the internet and found groups that could help me with my new obsession.  But the only thing I could not find was a place that had Faith journaling prompts.  No one listed any.  There were sites that discussed what Faith and Bible journaling was and how to do it, but no one had any prompts.  I let it go… I was a writer, so I could write on my own.

What is Faith/Bible Journaling?  I am glad you asked.

Bible journaling…
“A Bible journal is a hybrid diary where you keep both notes on your study of the Bible and a record of things that happen in your everyday life.”  For a more in-depth definition.

Faith journaling…
Faith journaling is creatively expressing your faith in God using a variety of mediums.  It helps you with your growth.  For a more in-depth definition.
Definition by Me.

For all intents and purposes, Bible Journaling and Faith Journaling are often used interchangeably from what I have seen, although they are two different things.  Bible journaling is done in a Bible and Faith journaling can be done in a Bible, but it is mostly done with pen and paper, usually in a journal.

But I feel that they can be two separate things.

A while back, one of the members of the Christian Faith Planners and Journals asked if there were any places to find a list of journal prompts that were faith based.  The answer is no.  I asked her if she wanted me to come up with a list and she said yes.  I asked her a couple more questions, and the list just flowed.

By the time I was done, I had 14-15 months’ worth of prompts.
