Pause,
Reflect, and Reset with Purpose
It is easy to start a year with fire
in your belly and vision in your heart. But somewhere around the middle—when
the newness wears off and life starts to feel like a grind—we need to pause.
Not to quit.
But to realign.
That is what a mid-year check-in is
for.
This post is not just something to
read. It is an invitation to journal with me—to slow down and reflect on
what God is doing, how far you have come, and where your soul still needs
strength.
Why
a Mid-Year Check-In Matters
We do not drift toward purpose.
We drift away from it.
And unless we stop and evaluate, we
risk living reactively instead of resiliently.
Reflection helps us:
- Notice where God has moved
- Identify where we are resisting growth
- Celebrate small steps
- Make adjustments with intention
How
to Do This Check-In
Grab a journal, a quiet space, and
your Bible. You can follow the prompts below or choose one that speaks to you
most.
This is your moment to breathe—and to
build holy grit with deeper roots.
1. Spiritual Pulse Check
“Examine yourselves, to see whether
you are in the faith.” — 2 Corinthians 13:5
Journal Prompt:
How is my faith holding up right now—honestly?
Where do I feel strong, and where do I feel fragile?
Think of your spiritual life as a
garden.
- What is flourishing?
- What needs watering?
- What needs pruning?
2. Look Back with Grace
Take a look at the first half of the
year. Not with guilt—but with curiosity.
Journal Prompt:
What has God carried me through so far this year?
Where have I seen His hand, even if I missed it at the time?
You may be surprised how many places
God showed up. Let gratitude reset your perspective.
3. Name the Grit
The theme this year is Holy Grit. So
name it.
Journal Prompt:
What has required the most resilience from me so far?
Where have I shown up with courage—even if no one else saw it?
You are stronger than you think. Write
down a few “grit wins” and thank God for walking you through them.
4. Refresh the Vision
Maybe some goals feel irrelevant now.
Maybe some new dreams are stirring. Give yourself permission to reset.
Journal Prompt:
What do I want the second half of this year to look like spiritually?
What is one way I can be more intentional with my walk?
You do not have to overhaul your life.
Just recalibrate your heart.
5. Invite God In
“Search me, O God, and know my
heart...” — Psalm 139:23
Journal Prompt:
Lord, is there anything I am holding onto that is slowing me down?
What do You want to grow in me over the next six months?
This is your time to listen—not just
write. Give God space to speak.
Reflecting
Through the Holy Grit Plan
If you have been following the HolyGrit: A Bold Walk in Resilience and Faith Bible reading plan, take a moment
to look back at each month so far:
- January – Ready and Steadfast
- February – Empowered to Endure
- March – Standing Firm in Faith
- April – In the Strength of the Lord
- May – Living Invested
- June – Each Day Equipped
Ask yourself:
Which month stretched me the most?
Which one comforted me most deeply?
Which theme do I need to return to now?
This plan is not linear—it is layered.
Every theme still speaks.
Final
Word: Reflection Is a Form of Resilience
Taking time to reflect is not
weakness. It is wisdom.
It is how we train our spiritual muscles to grow intentionally, not just
instinctively.
So give yourself this pause.
Let your journal become a sacred space—where holy grit is not just something
you read about, but something you recognize within yourself.
God is still working. And so are you.
