Scriptures:
“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your
teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech…”
— Titus 2:7–8
“A
student is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be
like his teacher.”
— Luke 6:40
Prayer:
Lord, today we pray for those who teach in higher education. We lift up adjunct
professors—those who often teach in multiple places, with limited support but
deep dedication. Provide for their needs. Meet them in their classrooms,
offices, and commutes. Let them know they are not forgotten. Honor their
commitment with open doors, renewed passion, and divine provision.
We
also pray for full-time professors—those shouldering the weight of research,
teaching, mentoring, and leadership. Give them balance. Let their influence
stretch beyond academic success and into character development. Make them
mentors who guide students not just through subjects, but through life.
May
every professor walk in integrity, speak with clarity, and teach with
compassion. Let them create spaces where students feel challenged but not
crushed, seen but not shamed, equipped but never exploited. Bless their work in
public and their labor in secret.
Amen.
Go a Step Further:
If you know a college instructor or professor, thank them specifically for what
they taught you—academically or personally. If you are a student, take a moment
to thank one of your professors today, whether in a message, an email, or a
spoken word.
