Scriptures:
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am
doing a new thing…”
— Isaiah 43:18–19
“For
You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I
praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
— Psalm 139:13–14
Prayer:
Lord, we lift up every high school campus and every student who walks its
halls—especially those stepping into ninth grade. This new chapter can feel
overwhelming. Calm the nerves of those entering unfamiliar territory. Let them
know they do not have to have everything figured out—just a heart that is
willing to grow.
We
pray that high school will be a season of discovery and direction, not
confusion and chaos. Protect students from identity crises, destructive
comparison, and paralyzing fear. Replace insecurity with confidence. Let them
rise into their purpose with wisdom, boldness, and vision.
Strengthen
the upperclassmen to lead well and make space for others. Help teachers and
staff steward these formative years with patience and truth. And Lord, may
every ninth grader feel seen—not as a small fish in a big pond, but as a
beloved creation with a future worth shaping.
Amen.
Go a Step Further:
Reach out to a high school student you know—especially a freshman—and speak
encouragement over them. Let them know that beginnings can be both awkward and
beautiful. Offer to pray for their school year or simply let them know they are
not walking it alone.
