November 2022: Cultivating Daily Thanks (Grace Notes)

Join me in a deliberate posture of thanksgiving—no matter the season.

Themes: Gratitude That Grows

Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)

Description: October is about sowing seeds of gratitude in the everyday. From simple joys to spiritual gifts, Paul reminds us that there is always something to thank God for. This month you will look closely at the words he used to thank God for others, for salvation, for grace, and for the good work being done in believers' lives. Gratitude begins with noticing—and this month, you will practice seeing with thankful eyes.

Rooted in Resilience

This year's Bible Reading Plan is based on my Word of the Year: Resilience.

The Holy Grit Journey: A Bold Walk in Resilience and Faith is your reminder that this is more than a plan—it is a call to live steady in what God has strengthened.

This is a step in the Path of Holy Grit—a journey shaped by endurance, faithfulness, and grace.

This is not just a reading rhythm. It is a spiritual stance.
You do not break. You bend. You build.
Stay grounded. Stay gritty.
You are Resilient on Purpose.

Description

Resilience runs deep when you are rooted in God. Learn how to stand tall, even in storms, by digging into truth.

Jeremiah 17:7

Letters We Cannot Skip: Why Paul’s Words Are Vital to Every Christian’s Growth

Growth That Lasts

Spiritual growth is not accidental. It is intentional. And if we want to grow in ways that are healthy, lasting, and Spirit-led—we cannot ignore Paul’s letters. His words are not just historical—they are formational. They are for churches, yes. But they are also for you.

If you want to be stretched, strengthened, and steadied in your faith, Paul’s letters are essential.

Paul’s Letters Still Speak with Power Today

They may have been written centuries ago, but the issues Paul addressed then still speak to our hearts now.

  • Struggling with identity? Paul reminds you who you are in Christ.
  • Wrestling with sin or shame? Paul declares your freedom through grace.
  • Leading others? Paul gives wisdom for leadership grounded in humility and love.
  • Feeling disconnected from the Church? Paul shows you how every part of the body matters.
  • Waiting on God? Paul points to hope that endures.
  • Facing pressure or pain? Paul lived it—and taught us how to walk through it with joy.

There is no part of your life that Paul’s writings cannot reach.

They Teach, Transform, and Train

Paul’s letters are not just lessons to learn. They are tools to live by.

He teaches us how to:

Each lesson is more than information—it is an invitation to transformation.

Spiritual Growth Needs Spiritual Anchors

We are all being formed by something—culture, pain, pressure, or performance. Paul’s letters ground us in what is eternal. They bring us back to the gospel again and again, reminding us that our growth is not based on what we achieve but on who we abide in.

Paul does not just give you ideas.

He gives you anchors—truths that hold you steady when life tries to shake your faith.

Read Them. Revisit Them. Let Them Work in You.

You do not outgrow Paul’s letters. You grow deeper into them.

So keep reading. Keep learning. Keep letting the Holy Spirit use his words to build your faith.

They are not just letters.

They are vital.

They are still speaking.

And they are still shaping believers who want to grow strong.

Pauline Epistle Rememberminder: 1 Timothy

Age is not a disqualifier—faithfulness is. Let your life, your words, and your example speak.

1 Timothy 4:12 (CSB):

“Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers…”

Holy Grit for Everyday Warriors

When Ordinary Faith Meets Extraordinary Pressure

You do not have to wear a title, hold a microphone, or have a platform to need resilience.
You just have to wake up, follow Jesus, and keep showing up.

If you are navigating life with faith in one hand and pressure in the other, this is for you.

You are the everyday warrior.
The one who keeps going when it would be easier to quit.
The one who prays even when the answers are slow.
The one who pours out, shows up, and stands firm—quietly, consistently, sometimes tearfully.

That is holy grit.
And you are walking in it more than you realize.

Be Resilient on Purpose.

What Is an Everyday Warrior?

An everyday warrior is not someone with superhuman strength.
It is someone who lives with supernatural surrender.

  • You clock in and clock out, yet you carry spiritual weight.
  • You encourage others while managing your own unseen battles.
  • You read Scripture in between meetings, errands, or caring for others.
  • You fight for your peace, your family, your mind—without applause.

You are living a life that is deeply spiritual, even if it looks ordinary.

Where Grit Shows Up in Your Day

🔹 In the Middle of the Mundane

Washing dishes. Answering emails. Holding boundaries. These small acts of faithfulness build spiritual muscle.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…” — Colossians 3:23

🔹 In the Quiet Acts of Forgiveness

Forgiving that same person for the hundredth time? That is grit.

“Love keeps no record of wrongs.” — 1 Corinthians 13:5

🔹 In Choosing Prayer Over Panic

You paused. You prayed. You let God in. That is spiritual resilience.

“Do not be anxious… but in everything by prayer…” — Philippians 4:6

🔹 In Showing Up When You Do Not Feel Like It

To church. To work. To serve. To parent.
You keep showing up. That is grit.

“Let us not grow weary in doing good…” — Galatians 6:9

The Lies Everyday Warriors Face

Even the most committed believers can be tempted by these thoughts:

  • “What I do does not matter.”
  • “No one sees the effort I give.”
  • “I am not as strong as other people.”
  • “If I were really faithful, this would feel easier.”

These are not the voice of God.
These are lies sent to make you question the spiritual value of your daily walk.

But Scripture reminds us:

“God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him…” — Hebrews 6:10

Your faithfulness is not wasted. It is recorded in heaven.

How to Strengthen Your Holy Grit

1. Reconnect with Purpose

Why do you keep showing up? Because God called you to.
Go back to your “why” and let it fuel your daily obedience.

2. Create Small Sacred Spaces

Even 5 minutes with God can realign your whole spirit.
Open your Bible before your phone.
Pause in prayer before your response.

3. Speak Life to Yourself

You are not being dramatic. You are carrying weight.
Remind yourself:
“I am anointed for this.”
“God sees me.”
“Obedience is enough.”
“My value is not in the visible.”

4. Celebrate the Wins Only God Sees

The moment you chose kindness over retaliation? Victory.
The night you prayed instead of spiraling? Victory.
The act of integrity when no one was watching? Victory.

Where This Shows Up in the Holy Grit Plan

The 12 Months of Holy Grit plan was made for people just like you:

You are not overlooked.
You are deeply known.
And the daily choices you make in faith are eternal seeds.

Final Word: You Are Not Just Getting Through This—You Are Growing Through It

Holy grit for everyday warriors is not about being strong all the time.
It is about choosing faithfulness over feelings, one surrendered step at a time.

So if no one else tells you today:

You are doing better than you think.
Your quiet obedience is building something eternal.
And heaven sees your holy grit.

Affirmations about Christian Pursuits

Chase What Matters

Key Thought: I pursue a life that reflects God's priorities.

In 1 Timothy, Paul outlines what every believer should run after—righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness. These pursuits shape how we lead, serve, and grow. They are not just spiritual ideals; they are daily goals that show our maturity and mark our testimony. Rather than chasing after fame, status, or possessions, we pursue the heart of God and the character of Christ. These are the pursuits that build a legacy worth leaving.

Affirmations:

1.   I pursue righteousness by doing what is right in God’s eyes.

2.   I cultivate godliness through discipline, devotion, and worship.

3.   I walk by faith, trusting God in every season.

4.   I love with sincerity, patience, and action.

5.   I endure hardship with steadfastness and hope.

6.   I remain gentle, even when the world is harsh.

7.   I flee from what is harmful and cling to what is holy.

8.   I set my eyes on eternity, not temporary success.

9.   I honor God in my leadership, lifestyle, and choices.

10.                I fight the good fight by pursuing what truly matters.

Pauline Epistle Rememberminder: Jesus Is Our Foundation for Leadership in 1 Timothy

You do not have to have it all figured out to lead well. Anchor yourself in Jesus—and lead from grace, not pressure.

1 Timothy 6:12 (ESV):

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…”

Leading with Character (1 Timothy)

Paul writes to Timothy like a spiritual father. He does not just give him rules—he gives him a vision of what it means to lead well.

Character matters. Integrity matters. Truth matters.

But so does encouragement.

Paul reminds Timothy to stir up his gift. To stay grounded. To keep the gospel at the center.

If God has placed you in any position of influence—big or small—this book is your reminder:

How you lead is just as important as what you teach.

Five Things I Learned about Thinking on These Things

Philippians reminded me that my thought life is not neutral—it is spiritual. Paul gave a clear filter: whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, proper, worthwhile, and praiseworthy—think on these things. That list is not random. It is intentional. What I think about shapes how I live, speak, and respond. This was more than a mental checklist—it was a call to discipline my focus. In a world full of distractions, negativity, and noise, Paul challenged me to protect my mind by choosing what I dwell on. Peace is not found in escaping the world—it is found in fixing my mind on the right things.
